East Coast Railway annex Borasambar Cup

East Coast Railway won the 17th Borasambar Cup All-India Cricket Tournament, defeating Union Sporting Club (Cuttack) in the final by 25 runs at R B High School ground in Padampur (Bargarh) today.

Chasing 207 for victory, Union Sporting folded up for 181. Railway medium pacer Alok Mangaraj scalped three wickets for 33 runs to be adjudged the man of the match. The champion side received the top prize of Rs 31,000, while the runners-up team took home Rs 15,000.

Kameswar Barik (Union Sporting) bagged both the prizes as best batsman and man of the tournament. Sports Minister Pravin Chandra Bhanjadeo, Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Minister Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha and hockey Olympian Dilip Tirkey gave away the trophy and cash prizes at the closing function.
